My face when I got hired

This is my “I got Hired” face.

¡Hola! I'm Amparo Linares, Executive Assistant from Pareto Talent and this is my remote work- story:

⏳Let me take you back to 2023—Fresh out of university with a degree in 2D Animation and one big goal: get a job.

Not a dream job, not something tied to my degree—just any job. It was my first time in the workforce, and I brought with me a clean slate of experience (read: none). My expectations? Let’s just say they were modest.

📄My main plan? Land something remote, so I polished my LinkedIn, updated my CV, and even considered becoming an interpreter (inspired by a friend’s sister who landed a gig in record time)

But the plot thickens. While scrolling for training programs, I stumbled across an Instagram from an agency called Pareto Talent for a free two-week virtual assistant training. And my first thought? "This looks boring AF." Seriously, I almost ignored it. The idea of being a virtual assistant sounded like the corporate version of “pressing buttons to cross the street.” But then, the Co-Founder’s name caught my eye: Kasim Aslam.

At the time, I was dabbling in digital marketing and had already heard about Kasim’s legendary status. People on Reddit swore by his strategies (specifically, his course “Paid Traffic” on Digital Marketer), and I’d even binged a couple of his videos. Seeing his name got me curious, and also, since it was free, I clicked.

📅Day one of the free training rolls around, and suddenly, I’m neck-deep in knowledge:

  • 🤖 AI tools

  • 💻 CRMs

  • 🌎 Website and funnel builders

  • Project management systems

🤩It wasn’t just about being a virtual assistant; it was like a masterclass in thriving in the modern remote work world. By the end of those two weeks, I was hooked. I’d learned more about professional skills than in four years of university (for free, no less).

But here’s the kicker: if you passed the final test, you got the chance to join Pareto Talent and be matched with a U.S.-based entrepreneur. The test was intense, but the training gave me all the tools to nail it.

⌛Fast-forward to today, I’m working remotely while traveling—a kind of flexibility I never thought possible when I first started this journey. Earning in USD has made a huge difference in my life, and being able to collaborate with inspiring entrepreneurs every day has taught me skills I never imagined I’d need, not only for my job but to enhance my personal life, too.

📈And that’s exactly why Pesos to Dollars exists. This is where I’ll share everything I’ve learned and am still learning about the remote job world—from the best free resources to insider tips and mistakes you’ll want to avoid.
